OMG! You're Invited To A Party!

Teagan's 7th birthday is coming up in 3 weeks, so I've been busy trying to come up with "inexpensive" themes.

One idea is to do what my mom did for me one year. (although my bday is in the middle of the summer, so it works better) We had everyone who was invited bring a 'dressed up' banana. We had a little contest, you know for like the best dressed, funniest & etc...Then we made them into banana splits. Yummy!!!

So, to help ME cut part of the cost, why not have them bring THE food?

I will make brownies & provide the ice cream & sprinkles etc...

Does that sound exciting enough for a party? Oh, did I mention she wants to invite EVERYONE from her class? Which means there is a possibility of 19 boys & girls showing up, not including the kids down the street & the boss' daughter & cousins? Last year she had 15 kids, I'm sure I can handle almost 30...

(Did you hear that? That was me ripping my hair out & screaming!!)

Random happenings

"Pieces of April" is the dumbest movie I have ever seen...starring Katie Holmes...

I'm currently reading "If you could see me now" by Cecelia Ahern. Actually I haven't started reading it yet.

I saw a woman wearing a green velour track suit with heels. How stupid is that? Talk about fashion police being needed!

I think Teagan will have a Tinkerbell birthday party. Not sure...

Jingle all the way to Bank of America

So the retail holiday hours are fast approaching & I need some extra cash for those two very long wish lists I helped the girls make out to Santa...(why did I do that?)

So, beings as I work at "The Best Company Ever" (yes, they believe that) I decided to give them my full cooperation & agreed to slave away at their request.

So as a result, my daily routine has been upended and I know have crazy hours. I will be working anywhere from 3pm till midnight the week of thanksgiving! Oh and they decided to throw in a 6am shift on Sundays!

Back when I was a kid...

When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears
With their tedious diatribes about how hard things were. When they were growing up; what with walking Twenty-five miles to school every morning

... Uphill...

BOTH ways

Yadda, yadda, yadda

And I remember promising myself that when I grew up,
There was no way in hell I was going to lay

A bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it

And how easy they've got it!

But now that... I'm over the ripe old age of
Thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today.

You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my
Childhood, you live in a damn Utopia!

And I hate to say it but you kids today you
Don't know how good you've got it!

I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have The Internet. If we wanted to know something, We had to go to the damn library and
Look it up ourselves, in the card catalogue!!

There was no email!! We had to actually write
Somebody a letter, with a pen!

...Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there!

There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to
Steal music, you had to hitchhike to the damn record store and shoplift it yourself!

Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up!

We didn't have fancy crap like Call Waiting! If you
Were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!

And we didn't have fancy Caller ID either!
When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school,
Your mom, your boss, your Bookie, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you
Just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister!

We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video
Games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games
Like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You
Actually had to use your Imagination!! And there were no multiple levels or
Screens, it was just one screen
Forever!

And you could never win. The game just kept getting
Harder and harder and
Faster and faster until you died! Just like LIFE!

Sure, we had cable television, but back then that
Was only m-net And there was no on screen menu and no remote
Control!

You had to use a Little book called a TV Guide to find out what was
On! You were screwed when it Came to channel surfing! You had to get off
Your ass and walk over to the TV to change the Channel and there was no
Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons
On Saturday Morning. Do you Hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK
For cartoons, you spoiled
Little rat-bastards!

And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat
Something up we had to use the stove ... Imagine that!

If we wanted Popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing
And shake it over the stove forever like an idiot.

That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids
Today have got it too easy.
You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted
Five minutes back in 1980!

Regards,
The over 30 Crowd

All I want for Xmas is....

November is the winter month of hell! It wants to be cloudy & gray, maybe rain a bit, & if we're lucky, the sun will shine.

Everything Christmas is around you, there is no escaping it. Especially when you have little ones! They start making wish lists, telling you what they want & they'll just never forgive you if Santa doesn't bring them everything on their list.

Teagan, (drama queen & girly girl if I ever saw) wants everything that a spoiled 16 yr old would want. ie; iPod, laptop, a real cell phone etc...

Layla ( the future 'Mean Girl' on campus, but sweet & inocent in class) is still the baby at heart. She wants the babydolls & the dollhouse, & the princess movies.

What do I want? Let's just say I would have to win the lottery to get everything I want on my list!

New cars, a house of my own, debt free, unlimited credit lines, world travels, ALL the simple things that make me, well ME!

Now you know the true meaning

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?
And days of auld lang syne, my dear,
And days of auld lang syne.
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?

We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pu'd the gowans fine.
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld lang syne.
Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne,
We've wandered mony a weary foot,
Sin' auld ang syne.
We twa hae sported i' the burn,
From morning sun till dine,
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.
Sin' auld lang syne, my dear,
Sin' auld lang syne.
But seas between us braid hae roared
Sin' auld lang syne.

And ther's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.
For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak' a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

The words 'Auld Lang Syne' literally translates from old Scottish dialect meaning 'Old Long Ago' and is about love and friendship in times past. The lyrics in the song Auld Lang Syne referring to 'We'll take a Cup of Kindness yet' relate to a drink shared by men and women to symbolise friendship.

Boiling Point

I feel so used. Not by someone I call that great of a friend either. This person is my ex. This is the 2nd time he has come into my life, (unannounced at that) and confided in me with some problems he's going through at home.

I try to help him out and give him advice & tell him to do whatever it is to make things work at home. I've even told her the same things...Im always here to talk for either of them.

I have been talking (excuse me, texting) to him for a week...He flirts, I flirt back all in innocence. Things are said that should not be said by either of us, and then he dissapears.

Sure he was having a bad day. But usually the peolple I know would rather talk it out than stew all day & be pissy.

So now I feel used. He got the companionship out of me that he felt was enough for him & hung me out to dry.

Well Mr. J, don't expect me to be so friendly, caring or understanding and willing to give advice or my opinion 3 years down the road...AGAIN.

And for you Mrs.J, this isn't any of your fault. I've just had a bad day & I needed to vent and this is what spilled over the boiling point.

(I really need a dozen Blue Moons now)

It's an Eeyore kinda day

49 days left till Christmas. Which means, 4 more paydays to help Santa go shopping.

Where does the time go? It seems that summer was just yesterday, and I had a great tan from laying out in the pool EVERYDAY!

Teagan's 7th birthday is also just around the corner. Try asking a girl what type of party she wants...you'll never get the same answer twice! She also wants to invite a few of the boys from her class...yikes! Already????

This gloomy weather is inspiring me to break out my Paula Deen cookbooks and cook up some southern comfort foods.

I just love cooking & using a new recipe. Plus, Paula knows how to hit the spot! I wish she was my grandma sometimes. Maybe someday I'll make it to Atlanta & head over to her resturant...The Lady & Sons

Hopefully we'll head up to Chico tomorrow night. We need to get out of this boring town. I've been wanting to go see 'Changeling' maybe Karen will accompany me. I could also use a Blue Moon & a few games of 1-4-24 at Joe's...

Living in America

Yayyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!

I love this country! We have the right to free speech, the right to bare arms,& the COURAGE to nominate & ELECT the first black man into presidency!!

I truly do believe that he is going to do great things for the economy, the people of this country, and bring our troops home. I believe that he will open the eyes of many that may have otherwise voted republician, and show them a brighter side to everything!

I also hope that as a nation we accept people for WHO they are, not WHAT they are, and we overturned Prop 8. Everyone is entitled to happiness!!

I am an American, and I am proud to live in a Obama Nation!!

The Bush is overgrown

Tuesday, Novemeber 4th 2008...also known as election day every four years. What makes THIS election more important than recent years pass?

1. We had our first woman candidate in US History! (I'd vote for her, had she not dropped out)
2. We had our first black candidate in US History as well.
3. Tina Fey has ultimately had the best year ever as a dead ringer for Sarah Palin. (but I don't watch SNL)

I hope everyone casts their ballots at some point in their busy lives today. Take 10 minutes out of your day to change the world forever. You really can help make a difference, but if you don't vote, you have no right to complain!

Shit! It's cold out there

Cold, cold, cold...

I really don't like being cold. Its been ugly and gray all day. We had some sprinkles, little bit of a down pour, but just all together COLD!

I was so cold this afternoon that I was shaking as I was texting a friend. I was shaking from the inside out & that's when I know that I am down right cold.

Now I am safe at home in bed under the covers and I am wearing socks, sweats, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt & a blanket on top of the coves with the heater cranked up close to 90°

Tis' the season

OMG! When I left work today the parking lot was completely full!! I saw people walking across the street from the mall because our lot was full.

I guess it's one explanation for everyone's greediness. I overheard someone say, "grab it before she does"

You would think the way things are going in the world, people would be cautious with their money! A lot of people where christmas shopping already, buying stupid toys & video games, flat screens and the ever popular iPods.

I would rather save my money & teach the girls what the holiday means, than be the one that has to pick up all the toys for the rest of the year!

The circle of life

I never used to believe in those churchy type sayings. You know, the kind like "God only gives you what you can handle" or "When a door closes, a window opens"...I believe in Karma & the ways of Buddhisim.

Well, this morning I now have reason to truly believe that when a door closes, a window really does open.

Our black lab, Sir Oliver Boliver McButt passed away. He contracted Parvo. I have never experienced it first hand until now, and it is such a cruel & rapid diesease.

I can't stand to remember the look on his face for the past 4 days. I've never seen a true 'puppy dog' face until Oliver came into my life.

As I said with the whole door & window thing...The night that Oliver was showing symptoms of being sick, my black cat, Bageerha came home. He was missing for about 2 weeks & we thought that he was gone.

So, I'm not sure if it is just a coincidence, or the ways of something/someone else. What ever it is...its a moment where you wanna cry both tears of joy & sadness, & you can't tell if you happy or sad.
